vinNEBRASKA Wine Event 2010
Raise a glass to toast another great fundraiser organized by the vinNEBRASKA Foundation on March 26 at Happy Hollow Country Club and March 27 at the Holiday Inn Convention Centre. World class wines from 24 California, Oregon & France winemakers were available for tasting along with a sumptuous seven course dinner at the Winemaker’s Dinner & Reception at Happy Hollow. Every table had a winery representative to visit with the diners about their wines and winemaking. The event has always strived to give the Omaha wine drinker individual access to every winery representative.
The event continued Saturday at the Holiday Inn Convention Centre for the Grand Tasting. All of our winemakers were back with even more wines for 800 guests to taste and visit with them to understand the wines and make one-on-one contact with all the winemakers. During the tasting, hundreds of items were available for the silent auction. After the tasting, the live auction, featuring exclusive vacations, rare wines and more started with our “Auctioneer for Life” Stu Smith from Smith-Madrone Winery in Napa Valley. Assistant auctioneer was Jim Siedlecki from WOWT, Channel 6.

The event raised over $127,000 net for this year’s organization – All Our Kids, Inc. a mentoring organization for at-risk youth in the Omaha area. They assist youth from grade school into college keeping them in school and offering scholarships. Established in 1989 through a vision of Michael and Gail Yanney, they currently serve over 650 youth in the area.
vinNEBRASKA was founded in 1989 by several civic-minded wine lovers who wanted to use their love and knowledge of wine to raise money and teach the local community about wine. Since inception, they have raised well over $1.5 million for various local organizations.

A Special Benefit for All Our Kids, Inc.
Over the past 21 years, VINNEBRASKA has raised over $1.5 million for local charities, including the American Cancer Society, Omaha Public Library Foundation, Girls, Inc., KVNO, Easter Seals of Nebraska, All Our Kids, Inc. and The Ronald McDonald House. All Our Kids, Inc. is pleased to have been chosen once again to be this year’s benefitting charity. All Our Kids will use the funds made from this event to aid in serving more Omaha youth to reach their academic goals, graduate from high school and pursue secondary education.
